Growing up in Boracay, Rovien, often referred to as Rovi, was surrounded by the warmth of a middle-class family and the steady beat of the waves. His early years were molded by a carefree island way of life, where afternoons passed by under the sun and mornings smelled of salt air. While his mother oversees a tour and travel company that specializes in highlighting everything Boracay has to offer, his father owns a well-known linen company that provides hotels with premium linens and amenities.Drawn to the energy and opportunities of city life, Rovi was eager to expand his horizons and dreamed of studying in Manila. He enrolled in University of Santo Tomas to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, with a focus on service management and travel operations. He was forced to stay in the city much longer than he had intended when the pandemic struck as travel restrictions made it impossible for him to return home. He learned independence, and how to deal with life away from the sea he sorely missed.He decided to return to Boracay after graduating in 2023, bringing with him the discipline and outlook he had acquired in Manila. He fully entered the careers he had always dreamed of when he returned home. In addition to being a professional freedive coach at the island’s training center; a manifestation of his lifelong connection to the ocea, he works as a tour guide in Boracay, sharing his island roots and knowledge with tourists.Rovi continues to support his parents’ businesses whenever needed, helping ensure their operations remain strong. He shares his home with his three adored mixed ragdolls: Rami, Rio, and Rain.
